Which 2021 Kia Sorento is Right for You?

Find out which trim level of Kia’s all-new Sorento SUV checks off your new-vehicle wish list.

The Sorento has been a steady seller, and Kia hopes this all-new-for-2021 4th-generation model will capture some of the magic of its super-successful and slightly larger sibling, the Telluride mid-size 3-row SUV. At first glance, the new Sorento looks poised to do so, thanks to bold contemporary sharp-edged styling that hides its 6- or 7-passenger capability.

To complement the new Sorento exterior, Kia designers kept the theme of “Refined Boldness” in mind while crafting the all-new interior of this compact/mid-size 3-row SUV. To help that effort, they gave the Sorento cabin distinctive touches such as bright satin finishes, open-pore wood inlays, vertical air vents, and even embossed diamond-quilted leather in the upmarket models, all backed by a 5-year/100,000-kilometre factory warranty.

Starting with the $33,995 LX+ trim (all Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices are in Canadian dollars), all Sorentos get all-wheel-drive (AWD). The first of a pair of all-new 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engines is rated at 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque and hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Starting with the $39,495 X-Line trim (the only Sorento that offers 6-passenger seating with captain chairs in the 2nd-row) to the top-line $47,495 SX trim, power comes from a 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque turbocharged 2.5 unit. It uses an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

All 2021 Sorentos come standard with a generous amount of safety equipment. Included on all trims are Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), and FCA-Pedestrian avoidance.

Somewhat larger than a compact SUV, the 2021 Kia Sorento competes with smaller 3-row SUVs like the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan ($32,745) and all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander ($31,998).
