Which 2023 Buick Enclave is Right for You?

Find out which trim level of Buick’s largest SUV best suits your driving needs.

What Is the 2023 Buick Enclave?

The Buick Enclave is a quiet, comfortable, and roomy mid-size SUV with three rows of seats and plenty of premium features.

If you prioritize comfort and practicality over sporty performance, you’ll like the Enclave. It has a quiet, comfortable ride, and its standard V6 engine provides plenty of power. The big Buick also has a spacious interior with a third row of seats you can use, plus a lot of cargo space.

How Much Does the Buick Enclave Cost?

With its V6/automatic transmission/all-wheel drive powertrain, the only purchase decisions buyers interested in the Enclave need to make are solely based on the features you want and the budget you need to stick to.

The starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price for the base Enclave Essence trim starts at $50,698 in Canadian dollars. Standard gear highlights include leather for the first- and second-row seats, heated front seats, second-row captain's chairs, Buick’s QuietTuning with active noise cancellation, and the Buick Driver Confidence safety suite.

The mid-level Premium trim adds details like Bose Performance-Enhanced Premium 10-speaker audio system, head-up display, HD Surround Vision, and rear camera mirror. The topline Avenir trim gets all those goodies, plus a large sunroof and exclusive exterior design details.

Besides a new paint colour and a new wheel design, Buick hasn't made any significant changes for the 2023 Enclave. However, it did get a refresh for 2022 with updated styling, more standard safety and infotainment tech features, and a new $1,495 Sport Touring package (20-inch machined-face aluminum wheels, unique Sport grille with body-colour surround, Sport Touring liftgate badging.)

Unlike some luxury (and non-luxury) rivals that offer more extended coverage programs, Buick Canada only provides a 3-year/60,000 kilometres comprehensive warranty.

What Are the Enclave’s Power and Fuel Economy Ratings?

As mentioned, the sole engine option in the 2023 Enclave is General Motors’s familiar 3.6-litre V6 producing 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Combined city/highway fuel economy is estimated at 11.9 litres per 100 kilometres, a little below average for this class. Every Enclave has a 9-speed automatic transmission.

This Buick’s engine is suitable for most drivers, but rivals offer hybrid, mild-hybrid, or more high-performance options.

What’s the Buick’s Interior Like?

The inside of the 2023 Enclave is a serene place. It has plenty of legroom and headroom in the first and second rows, and your passengers will appreciate the second-row captain’s chairs. It’s less roomy in the third row, but reasonably spacious back there compared to most mid-size SUVs, especially from luxury brands. The Enclave comes with premium materials, and we love that leather seating comes standard in the first two rows.

On top of the roomy seating, the Enclave has a good amount of cargo space. It has 668 litres of room when all seats are in place. When you fold down the third row, that increases to 1,634 and a whopping 2,758 with the second and third-row seats folded.

What Are Some of the Buick Mid-Size Luxury SUV’s Best Features?

SPACIOUS INTERIOR: The Enclave has a 3-row interior with plenty of space for passengers and cargo alike. Unlike many of its more expensive competitors, the third row is easy to access. The Enclave also has a super quiet ride.

WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO AND APPLE CARPLAY: The Enclave’s standard smartphone connectivity features make it easy to bring your music, maps, and more to the screen in the Enclave without taking your phone out of your purse or pocket.

What’s the 2023 Buick Enclave’s Competition?

As the Buick shares a GM platform with the Cadillac XT6, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia, it's less sophisticated than competition from luxury brands like the Audi Q7, BMW X7, Genesis GV80, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. Instead, the Enclave is a better match against the Acura MDX, Infiniti QX60 and Lincoln Aviator.
